What is Device Financing?
This is a service which enables Vodacom customers to purchase select devices on credit. Customers will need to pay a downpayment and pay for the balance in installments in 9 months.
Who is eligible?
For a customer to be eligible, they must be registered on M-Pesa for 6 months, customer, above 18 and a Tanzanian. The eligibility criteria is subject to change over time.
How do I check if I am eligible for a device ?
For you to check your eligibility for the offer you need to opt-in the service and you will get a notification of whether you are eligible or not.
Which phones are on offer in the Device Financing program?
Tecno Pop 6
How much will I need to pay as a down payment for the Tecno Pop 6?
The minimum amount required for down payment is Tshs. 20,000 but you can pay an amount higher than that minimum.
How much will I need to pay daily and for how long?
For a daily repayment you are required to pay from above Tshs.1,000 and the loan period is 270 days (9months).
How do I make my daily repayments?
To make a payment
- Dial *123#
- select ‘Device Financing’ then select ‘Make payment’
- Select to make the minimum payment amount or enter amount to pay
- Enter your M-Pesa PIN
You will receive an SMS confirmation once your payment has been successfully processed.
Can M-PESA be reversed in case of wrong payment?
No, M-PESA Reversal is NOT available.Call customer care for more information.
What happens if I am unable to make a daily payment?
Customers who fail to pay their daily payments will receive SMS and other forms of notifications to pay for the loan. And once this is not done there are a number of actions that will be applied on the device to lock the services.
Do I get data bundles or free airtime when I pay daily or weekly?
NO,you will need to purchase data bundles or airtime separately.
Which is the mode of payments available to pay for the phone?
All payments will be via M-PESA
Can I purchase the phone for another person?
At the moment this will not be possible. The line making payments for the phone must be used on the phone.
How can I check my loan balance?
- Dial *150*00#
- select ‘Loans and Savings’ then select ‘Devices’
- Select “Loan Information”
Does the phone come with a warranty?
Phones have a one-year manufacturer’s warranty, Terms and conditions apply.
If I have an issue who do I contact?
Please contact the nearest Vodacom shop or Participating Dealer outlet, or call Vodacom customer care line 100.
What happens if I don’t make my overdue payments?
Access to apps, SMS and calls will be gradually locked if you do not pay your daily installments on time. When the phone is locked you can only call customer care and emergency numbers , access M-PESA menu on *150# and the Vodacom M-Pesa app
Pay on time or pay more in advance to avoid this.
What happens if my phone gets lost or stolen?
Report any lost or stolen phones to the nearby Police Post. Please note, you will need to make repayments for the duration of the device financing
My device is faulty, what can I do?
If it's within 1 year warranty the customer will notify customer care and attend any Tecno specialized dealer for maintenance
